We’re in a heatwave at the moment ( and its not even summer yet, winge winge, groan) and haven’t been doing much art at all the last few days.  Seems every flying bug on earth has found my place soon as I turn the lamp on and bring the oils out.  There is a small tear in the flyscreen and one on the flywire door.  The other night it was a constant fight to scoop them out of the oil paint with my pallette knife, but their wings kept getting left behind, so think the oil painting will probably have some of them in it, I hope not.  I HATE SUMMER. Feel better now.thru nightthe elusive butterfly The Oil “Through The Night”, Abstract 6×6″, and “Searching for Butterflys” is 6×4″. Hope your cool and no bugs. Time to start buying salads and cold meats again

far too hot to cook.  I pray all the firebugs have gone to Iceland, after last summers  inferno,  it kind of scares me they’ll come out of the woodwork again. My thoughts and prayers are still with those who were forced to endure that.

  1. Where do you live? Southern hemisphere, for sure as you are getting warmer and it is getting on towards winter here.. I don’t like HOT and ridden with bugs, either. I do like your aggressive little oil painting. The movement in such a little piece is cool. I like the composition of the kitten in the grass.

    • Hi lesliepaints, so sorry for not replying earlier, yes I live in Australia. The heat wave finally ended after breaking records since the 1890’s. But really knocked me around for awhile. Thanks so much for your comments.

Sorry! Ack and ick. Lived in Arizona for a few years. Familiar with HOT. Stiffling, to be sure. I love that painting though. So rich. A night I’d like to walk around it. It’s lovely, fly wings and all. Hang in there!!! Cheers and Namaste. 🙂

  3. I love hot weather, but I hate irritating bugs. Right now in southern Indiana (USA) lady bugs are everywhere and by the thousands.

    • Hi asmalltowndad, I wish I could have sent it over to you, I love ladybugs, they are my favourite insect since a child, but we’re lucky to see a handful of them all through the summer.

  4. Oh, forgot to mention, that I love the darkness in the oil, to have so many colors yet make it look dark and mysterious. Nice, really nice.
